The Clinique Juridique des Artistes de Montréal (CJAM) was created in October 2008. It is the result of many meetings with the artistic community in Montreal in order to better understand its needs in terms of legal information. A gathering of passionate lawyers, artists, managers and academics all came to one clear conclusion: a legal clinic that would allow artists to have access to personalized legal resources would be an important first step towards improving access to justice for Montreal’s artistic community.
To this day, the CJAM has organized more than a dozen events and has helped more than 500 artists through its legal information evenings. The legal clinic is always looking to improve the ways in which it can meet the needs of the artistic community in Montreal and pursue its main objective to offer of free and confidential legal information services.
