Have a legal question about your practice as an artist or arts organization? CJAM provides free, one-to-one legal information services in two different ways to fit your needs:
Face to Face
Every month, CJAM volunteers meet with clients to discuss legal issues related to their art. At CJAM’s “Legal Info Nights” volunteers gather the facts relevant to your legal issue, research it, and contact you with the appropriate legal information within two weeks. By sitting in the same room with a CJAM volunteer you also can provide him/her copies of relevant documents and actually meet the jurist who will be helping you.
UPDATE REGARDING COVID-19: Due to public health officials’ recommendations, Info Nights will be suspended until further notice. All consultations will take place over the phone (see below).
Sometimes it is difficult to wait until the next Legal Info Night. That’s why CJAM also offers legal information consultations by phone. A CJAM volunteer will call you after your initial inquiry to gather facts relevant to your legal question and, 2 weeks after that consultation, call you back to provide the appropriate legal information.
Whichever service you choose, the first step is to fill out the form below.
AFTER SUBMITTING THE FORM, WE WILL CONTACT YOU VIA E-MAIL TO MAKE FURTHER ARRANGEMENTS. PLEASE PROVIDE US WITH AN EMAIL THAT YOU CHECK REGULARLY.
Please note that our next consultations will take place in January 2021.
We remind you that CJAM complies with the Loi sur le Barreau, R.S.Q. c. B-1, and does not provide legal advice. The information provided by our volunteers in no way constitutes legal advice and is for informational purposes
